How We Teach and Learn
With high standards for our students, SAR educates the whole person: providing our students with the tools they need to reach their potential both as human beings and as learners. We view SAR as a cushion for the students, encouraging them to take risks, to be creative and to develop their skills.
SAR is an inclusive environment where classes are coeducational and taught in an open setting. Hebrew classes are taught Ivrit b’Ivrit—where teachers and students speak Hebrew. Students learn how to work together and are motivated to do well in and out of school. We afford our students the opportunity to explore who they are in a safe environment, ensuring our students become successful, contributing citizens who respect those around them.
SAR is a community of learners that recognizes the unique needs and potential of each individual. The school is committed to maximizing student achievement by:
- Providing clear standards of performance to guide students in mastering essential knowledge and skills as well as developing the habits of mind for successful learning.
- Engaging students in projects that have meaning to them as individuals.
- Fostering a climate of active learning in which students are valued as decision makers and teachers are valued as a model and coach
SAR views collaboration as an important element of a classroom in which every learner is both included and needed.
